Teaching And Learning In Key Stage 1 And 2
At St Jude’s School, we plan learning to be creative and exciting to meet the needs of all of the children.
Children from Year 1 to Year 6 follow a varied curriculum which includes English, Mathematics, Science, Religious Education, History, Geography, PSHE, PE, Art, Design and Technology, Computing and Spanish.
Each half term, these subjects are delivered through an exciting cross curricular topic theme.
Topics are carefully planned to cover the New National Curriculum and always include trips and visits to inspire the children throughout their learning.
Topics include “The circus is coming to town”, “Invaders” and “Chocoholics”.
Children work in a variety of ways, as a class, in groups, pairs or individually.
The emphasis is always on active and meaningful involvement of children in their own learning.
Support is provided for pupils who experience difficulties and to extend those who are ready for more challenge.
All classes are well supported with a teaching assistant or higher level teaching assistant who works collaboratively with the class teacher to ensure children make excellent progress.
