Actions to address barriers
  • Pupil premium children are a focus during all monitoring activities, dips in progress noted in pupil progress meetings are swiftly addressed with interventions, engagement with parents and external agencies if appropriate.
  • Weekly reading interventions for focus children using Project X.
  • Daily targeted phonics interventions using Letters and Sounds.
  • Focus on key vocabulary throughout the curriculum, including pupil’s acquisition and development of language.
  • Development of knowledge organisers in foundation subjects to support working memory and vocabulary.
  • Adult group support throughout whole class guided reading.
  • 1: 1 reading support for targeted children.
  • TA with specialist literacy training assesses for dyslexia and supports children in class and delivers bespoke interventions.

  • St Jude’s after school club provision carefully targets pupil premium to ensure all children access at least 2 after school clubs a year, these places are subsidised.
  • Financial support to families during the summer holidays for targeted children to participate in sports holiday camps.
  • Yoga and mindfulness for year 6 children during test preparation.
  • Continued support during lunchtimes led by a qualified sports coach – to provide a range of sporting activities including football, cricket, netball and multi skills.
