Thursday 1st October marked the beginning of Black History Month. To commemorate the amazing achievements of the Black community the theme of this term’s whole school project is ‘Record Breakers’.
Children are invited to be creative and to interpret this theme as they wish. We have given a few examples but we are looking for original ideas too!
To celebrate the children’s efforts and achievements, class teachers will choose a project that really stands out. The winning project will win a special prize.
All projects should be returned by Monday 23rd November, 2015.
A great website to start you off is: http://www.blackhistorymonth.org.uk/section/bhm-firsts/
Can you write a newspaper article to report a great black achievement? It could science, sport, or art related, the possibilities are endless!
Research inventions that have amazed the world – can you build a model of one?
Write about a famous Black figure and their life achievements! It could be a biography, leaflet or poster…
Make a poster to celebrate the life of a Black achievement, or even a short film!
Can you write a song or a rap to reflect Black History Month or about a famous Black figure?
Can you write a prayer or poem which reflects the values of record breakers?
Can you research a famous Black artist and have a go at their style of artwork? Or maybe draw a portrait of a Black role model?
